Xiaomi recently launched the Xiaomi 12S series which features the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro. Both these phones, together with the uber flagship 12S Ultra, are the first devices born out of the partnership between Xiaomi and renowned camera maker Leica.
The Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro’s main cameras are powered by a 1/1.28” Sony IMX707 sensor co-engineered with Leica, paired with Leica Summicron lenses and Leica imaging profiles, including Leica Authentic Look and Leica Vibrant Look presets.
The Pro model comes with two more 50MP sensors for ultra-wide and macro. The regular 12S, on the other hand, has 13MP and 5MP sensors for ultra-wide and telemacro.
Both devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, which offers up to 10 percent boost in performance and up to 30 percent reduction in power usage, compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Like the previous 12 series, the Pro model has a 4600mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging, while the vanilla model has a 4500mAh battery with 67W wired and a similar 50W wireless fast charging instead.
The two phones again follow the previous series. The 12S Pro has a 120Hz 6.73-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED display. The 12S, on the other hand, has a non-LTPO 6.28-inch AMOLED display, also with 120Hz refresh rate.
The Xiaomi 12S series will come to China first. The Xiaomi 12S Pro is priced at CNY4,700 for the 8GB + 128GB model (around ~P39,000), CNY5,000 for 8GB + 256GB (~P41,500), CNY5,400 for 12GB + 256GB (~P45,000), and CNY5,900 for 12GB + 512GB (~P49,000).
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 12S is priced at CNY4,000 for the 8GB + 128GB model (~P33,200), CNY4,300 for 8GB + 256GB (~P35,700), CNY4,700 for 12GB + 256GB (~P39,000), and CNY5,200 for the top-end 12GB + 512GB (~P43,200).
