Canalys, IDC reports confirm realme’s status as top smartphone brand in PH Q2 2022

realme remains steadfast as the top smartphone brand in the Philippines in Q2 2022. Canalys’ latest report saw realme take a 20% share of the market. This time around, IDC confirms the same, with a 20.2% market share during the same period.

realme’s strong showing was attributed to the performance of its entry-level C35 Series and the online channel activities of the Narzo Series. The realme C35, for instance, debuted in Lazada and sold out in just 2 minutes. Meanwhile, narzo, which recently became a separate brand, is backed by high sales of the narzo 50A Prime and the narzo 50.

On both Canalys and IDC’s reports, Transsion is at the number 2 spot. Transsion is the company behind the smartphone brands Infinix, Tecno Mobile, and Itel. It has a 17% market share on Canalys’ report, and 19.8% on IDC’s, of which the lion’s share belonged to Infinix.

The other three biggest smartphone brands are OPPO, Xiaomi, and Samsung, each with different positions in the top 5, depending on the report.

All five smartphone brands contributed to making the Philippines the second largest in Southeast Asia with a 4% increase and 4.4 million shipments, according to Canalys. The overall smartphone market of SEA fell by 7% in Q2 2022.
