WATCH: ‘The First Slam Dunk Movie’ gets a new trailer

The upcoming anime movie The First Slam Dunk Movie gets its first teaser trailer. The video shows fan favorite Hanamichi Sakuragi, along with the other members of the Shohoku High School Basketball Team.

The basketball anime is sure to invoke feelings of nostalgia in many of us as the original Slam Dunk was quite popular in the Philippines during the 90s. The First Slam Dunk Movie will premiere in Japan on December 3, 2022. Watch the trailer below.

The teaser trailer shows off the members of the Shohoku High School Basketball Team, namely Hanamichi Sakuragi (voiced by Subaru Kimura) and ace Kaede Rukawa (Shinichiro Kamio), along with Akagi Takenori (Kenta Miyake), Hisashi Mitsui (Jun Kasama), and Ryota Miyagi (Shugo Nakamura), with a modernized version of the original anime style.

The anime movie is produced by Toei Animation and DandeLion Animation Studio with the original mangaka Takehiko Inoue at the helm, directing and writing the screenplay.

Slam Dunk is a popular sports manga by Takehiko Inoue. It was adapted into anime from October 1993 to March 1996 with 101 episodes. It was broadcasted worldwide where it enjoyed immense popularity in Japan and other Asian countries including in the Philippines.
