Smart’s pro esports team, Smart Omega, prepares for CODM World Championship 2022

Smart Communications is backing its professional esports team, Smart Omega, as they prepare for the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2022 this December in Raleigh, USA.

“We are very proud of our young CODM athletes who never gave up despite the challenges in their journey. As a staunch supporter of esports development, we continuously support our Filipino athletes by providing them with the right tools and training environment for their success. We are here to support them as they carry the flag in the prestigious World Championships in the U.S.,” said Jude H. Turcuato, FVP and Head of Sports at PLDT and Smart.

Smart Omega is composed of Jerrold “Woopiiee” Regay, Ronan Arkie “Rage” Eleria, Jonnel “R1sky” Buemio, John Kenneth “KenDy” Pimentel, and Kennedy “iDra” Mondoy. Along with coaches, Bruce Cruz and Jericho Peter Ambulo, the young professional esports team will represent the Philippines in the upcoming World Championships, facing off with the best teams from around the globe.

To score their spots for the world championships, Smart Omega and Singapore’s ALMGHTY placed second and first, respectively, at the Garena Regional Qualifiers.

Smart’s support of the Smart Omega CODM team is part of its longstanding push to promote Philippine esports and cultivate the passion, skill, and talent of Filipino esports athletes and mobile gamers.
