Smart Communications recently announced its partnership with Dark League Studios, a rising esports company, to elevate the Philippine esports scene. This multi-year partnership aims to support and foster the growth of amateur esports leagues across the country, creating opportunities for budding Filipino esports athletes to showcase their skills to a global audience.
As part of their collaborative vision, Smart and Dark League Studios plan to nurture homegrown talent through grassroots tournaments, roadshows, mini-conferences, community programs, and content production, among other initiatives. With this partnership, both companies aspire to cultivate world-class Filipino esports athletes and put the country on the map as a top esports destination.
Founded in July 2022, Dark League Studios is the latest player in the esports and gaming industry. However, it has already established itself by organizing various esports leagues, including the PBA Esports Bakbakan and the Kings and Queens League. Recently, it hosted a Tekken 7 tournament that aimed to strengthen the grassroots of the local fighting game community.

Smart, on the other hand, has been a significant supporter of Philippine esports for years, offering Filipino gamers fast and reliable connectivity through its LTE network and upgraded Smart 5G network. Smart has also supported various esports events and initiatives such as the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL), The Nationals, Philippine Pro Gaming League (PPGL), and ESGS.
