MPL MY Season 12 kicks off with MI5I Malaysia mission and M5 Wild Card

MI5I Malaysia mission and M5 Wild Card spice up MPL MY S12.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) Season 12 is back with a bang, featuring 10 of the best teams in the country who will face a huge challenge – to carry on the MI5I Malaysia mission of bringing #pantangmengalah spirit to the global stage – the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M5 World Championship 2023. This year, Malaysia will also host the M5 Wild Card in November, where eight regions will battle for another spot in the prestigious international tournament.

“Malaysia has a rich history of hosting and participating in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Esports international tournaments, such as MSC 2022 and M1, and has a large pool of talented players who can deliver a world-class performance,” said Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, Marketing and Business Development Lead, MPL Malaysia, “We are excited to welcome international players from other regions to compete in the M5 Wild Card and to provide a great esports experience for our local fans once again.”

The M5 Wild Card was announced at MSC 2023 in June, offering two more slots for more regions to join the biggest MLBB event of the year. Malaysia is one of the countries that will participate in the offline qualifier. The Group and Knockout Stages of the M5 World Championship will be held in the Philippines in December. MPL MY is one of the longest-running esports leagues in the nation, supporting the growth and sustainability of the industry and talent.

Powered by MOONTON Games, and presented by Hotlink, the press conference that launched MPL MY S12 and announced M5 Wild Card also featured an industry panel session moderated by Fikri of MPL Malaysia on how to propel the national esports landscape.

The panelists included Simon Lim, Chairman of Selangor FC Esport at Selangor Red Giants, Nureddy “DaddyHood” Nursal, Founder of HomeBois, Fadzli Rahim, Vice President, Operations and Growth at Esports Integrated (ESI), and Silvin See, Consumer Marketing Manager for Nescafe.

New emblem system shakes up the game

The new season will introduce a new emblem system that will allow players to experiment with different heroes and playstyles and activate special effects or go beyond the usual role of a character. This means that new strategies and meta will emerge this season, giving other teams a chance to prove themselves and rise from #ZerotoHero.

This season also marks one of the biggest roster changes for MPL MY, with several teams making big investments to win big. Some notable transfers include:

  • Skadaga (ex-HomeBois Coach) to RSG MY
  • Stowm (OMG) to RSG MY
  • Exort (RSG PH) to RED Esports
  • Super Red (BLCK) and Pancake (ONIC) to RG
  • Z1PPY (FCON) and Kid (AI Esports) to LTX
  • Xorn (GeekFam), Feekz (GeekFam), and Raizel (Alter Ego) to HomeBois
  • Matt (GeekFam ID) and Maxxx (BTR) to Team Secret

“As the highly anticipated return of the MPL MY Season 12 approaches, we leave no stone unturned in our preparations. With a strong focus on the fundamentals and determined efforts to strengthen our lineup, the team is ready to take on the challenge,” stated Simon Lim, Chairman of Selangor FC Esport at Selangor Red Giants.

The rise of new contenders

TODAK is back with a vengeance this time around with new surprises. They have revamped their roster, with Kuja joining as a Coach. Kuja, Martzy, and HazelnuT are among the new additions to the legendary Malaysian team. They will face tough competition from Red Giant, Team SMG, and HomeBois – who are all set to take over the MPL MY stage with their own lineups.

Catch the teams every Friday to Sunday (except for Week 6) from Aug. 18 to Sept. 24 for the Regular Season and from Oct. 5 to Oct. 8 for the Playoffs. Their journey to become #BetterThanGreat is just beginning, with the pursuit of national glory at M5.

The confirmed list of participating teams in Season 12 are:

  • Team HAQ
  • TODAK
  • Team SMG
  • RSG Slate MY
  • Red Esports
  • Team Lunatix
