Smart launches exclusive NFTs for FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 fans

Smart launches Shinys, its version of NFTs featuring FIBA mascot JIP.

Smart Communications, a global partner of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, is giving its subscribers a chance to own a piece of sports history with its exclusive digital collectibles, Shinys, which are non-fungible tokens (NFTs) featuring the tournament mascot, JIP.

NFTs are unique digital assets that can be verified and traded on a blockchain platform. They have become popular among sports fans who want to collect rare and valuable memorabilia from their favorite teams and players.

Smart is the first company in the Philippines to launch an NFT raffle for its subscribers, who can get one free Shiny per day at Smart booths at the tournament venues from August 25 to September 1. Each Shiny also serves as a raffle entry for a chance to win exciting prizes, such as a FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Finals Pass, Gilas Art Prints by renowned artist Mike Swift aka Mr. Pinoy Hoops, Smart and Gilas shirts, and limited-edition Gilas-themed Smart Prepaid load cards.

“We are thrilled to offer our subscribers this unique opportunity to own a piece of sports history with our Shinys, which are not only fun and collectible, but also valuable and rewarding,” said Jane J. Basas, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart. “This is part of our commitment to bring the best basketball experiences to our subscribers and fans, powered by the Philippines’ fastest and best mobile network.”

To get a free Shiny, subscribers must connect to a Smart mobile internet, scan the QR code, and fill out the form on the YEY Platform powered by BlockchainSpace Asia. Upon successful registration, subscribers will receive their unique Shiny for the day. There are a total of eight different Shinys to collect, each featuring JIP in various poses and outfits.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 is the 19th edition of the men’s basketball tournament organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). It will be co-hosted by the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10, 2023. A total of 32 teams will compete for the title of world champion.
