Smart Communication and US-based Radisys Corporation, a subsidiary of Jio Platforms Limited, have successfully tested the new features of the Smart LiveStream App at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, giving users a more immersive and interactive experience of watching the games on their mobile devices.

The Smart LiveStream App, powered by Radisys’ Livewire platform, allows users to enjoy the thrill of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 with a 360 Camera feature that lets them choose their own viewing angle, a Live Chat feature that enables them to interact with other fans, a Live Poll feature that gauges their opinions on the game, and a Watch Party feature that lets them share the livestream with up to seven friends.

The app also provides real-time statistics of the teams and players through the Match Up and Box Score tabs, giving users more insights into the game.

Smart and Radisys collaborated with select Filipino personalities to beta test the app during the Philippines versus Italy match last August 29. The participants were impressed by the app’s innovative features and praised its smooth performance.

The beta test is part of Smart and Radisys’ ongoing partnership to bring enhanced digital experiences to Filipinos. Smart is the official global partner of FIBA and the wireless unit of PLDT, recognized by Ookla as the country’s Best Mobile Network for three consecutive reporting periods.

“The successful showcase of game-changing features on the Smart LiveStream App is a major step forward in our ongoing collaboration with Radisys, and in our shared thrust to provide the best mobile experience to Filipinos. It gives a glimpse of a more fun, interactive, and immersive streaming experience that we will soon bring to the fingertips of our subscribers powered by our award-winning mobile network,” said Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT and Smart President and CEO.

“Radisys is thrilled at the progress of our collaboration with PLDT-Smart. With the success of our beta test and positive reception from participants, we are eager to share and leverage our expertise and experience as we roll out breakthrough innovations relevant to our customers,” said Arun Bhikshesvaran, Radisys President and CEO.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will run from August 25 to September 10 in four host countries: the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, and India. Smart will continue to bring the best basketball experiences to Filipinos through its various platforms and initiatives.
