Carl Pei denies Nothing Phone (2a) will have MediaTek Dimensity 7200

Pei hints at a different and better processor for the Phone (2a).

Nothing founder Carl Pei has refuted the rumors that the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a) will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chip.

In a tweet, Pei flat-out said “Spoiler alert! Not the Dimensity 7200”. He did not reveal the exact name of the chip, however, but it’s speculated that it will be a custom Dimensity 7200 Ultra instead.

The Nothing Phone (2a) is scheduled to make its global debut on March 5, 2024. It is the third smartphone from the company, following the Phone 1 and 2.

According to the leaks, the Phone (2a) will come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, two 50MP cameras for the main and ultra-wide, a 32MP selfie shooter, and Nothing OS 2.5 on top of Android 14. Additionally, the device will support 45W fast charging.

The Phone (2a) will also feature a variation of Nothing’s Glyph Interface, the LED light pattern that can be customized by the user. The phone will also have a transparent design, similar to the previous models.

The leak also suggested that the Nothing Phone (2a) will be priced at USD 400 (around P22,400), making it a mid-range offering from the company.

Nothing Phones and accessories are available in the Philippines, distributed in the country by Digital Walker. The company has not yet announced the official price and availability of the Phone (2a) in the local market.
