SpaceX’s Starlink is now offering refurbished kits in the Philippines for half the price of a brand-new one.
Previously, a brand new standard kit, which includes the satellite dish, router, and mounting equipment, retailed for P28,000. With refurbished hardware, you can grab a fully working unit for P14,000 – a significant price cut of 50%.
Refurbished units are essentially Starlink hardware that has been returned for various reasons. These units are usually inspected to ensure they are in good working condition. They are then cleaned, restored to full functionality, and repackaged for resale.
Take note that the price reduction is solely for the hardware itself. Starlink’s monthly service plans remain unchanged. Residential users will still need to pay P2,700 per month for unlimited data access.
The Philippines was the first country in Southeast Asia to receive Starlink services. The SpaceX division offers broadband services delivered via its network of over 5,504 low-orbit satellites (as of March 2024) that can reach remote areas in the country.
Starlink kits are available in Silicon Valley and Silicon Valley Gaming Arena (SVGA), the authorized resellers of Datalake, the official distributor of Starlink in the Philippines.
