Apple has just launched the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. With its official Philippine prices released, it’s revealed that the Pro model starts at Php 69,999. Given that, how many days of work does it take for an average Filipino to afford one?

Picodi has crunched the numbers and released a new report for the answer. As it turns out, an average Filipino has to work 68.8 days to buy the iPhone 16 Pro 128GB.

That’s a stark improvement from last year’s 79.5 days for the iPhone 15 Pro 128GB. The report states this is due to the increase in the average monthly salary in the Philippines to Php 21,400 net.

However, despite the improvement, the Philippines still ranks as the second-worst country among the 50 countries surveyed by Picodi.com. Türkiye remains in last place, with an average worker needing 72.9 days of work to buy the device (a huge leap from last year’s 123.7 days).

Among the ASEAN countries on the list, Vietnam workers need 53.1 days, Malaysians only 25.3 days, and Singaporeans just 5.7 days. On the other hand, at the top of the list is again Switzerland, with its citizens needing only to work for 4 days to earn enough money for the newest iPhone.

Take note that Picodi’s report was based on the official prices of the iPhone 16 Pro 128GB and the average salaries in each country at the time of the device’s launch. The report assumed that a person spends their entire salary on buying the iPhone and does not incur any other expenses.
