PLDT and Smart Communications have partnered with Kids for Kids PH and the Positive Youth Development Network (PYDN) to launch a children’s book titled “Ang Paglalakbay ni Tala” (The Adventures of Tala). This storybook aims to educate young readers about their rights and the importance of online safety.

“PLDT and Smart believe that child protection, especially in the digital age, begins at home,” said Stephanie V. Orlino, AVP and Head of Stakeholder Management at PLDT and Smart. “The storybook offers an opportunity for parents and guardians to sit with children and talk about internet safety so they can #BeCyberSmart and protect themselves from threats on the internet and in the physical world.”

The book launch coincides with National Children’s Month and supports the Department of Justice’s efforts to combat human trafficking and violence against children. It aligns with PLDT and Smart’s #BeCyberSmart program, which promotes internet safety and media literacy.

In the book, protagonist Tala embarks on a journey through the metaverse, where she learns about her rights and the potential dangers lurking online. The book highlights the significance of protecting personal information and avoiding cyberbullying. It also encourages children to be kind, respectful, and responsible digital citizens.

Through the #BeCyberSmart campaign, PLDT and Smart collaborate with schools, businesses, and other organizations to raise awareness about online threats and cyber-attacks.

Kids for Kids PH is a youth-led movement dedicated to fostering creativity and safety for children. PYDN, a youth-centered organization, partners with various institutions to implement innovative programs for young people. Both organizations share PLDT and Smart’s vision of a safer digital future for the next generation.
