PLDT Home launches world-first ‘Always On’ broadband service

PLDT Home has unveiled the world’s first “Always On” broadband service. Fiber Always On is a backup service that offers uninterrupted internet connectivity via a 2-in-1 hybrid modem that can seamlessly switch between fiber and LTE networks.

How does it work? In the event of a fiber outage, the “Always On” modem automatically switches to a 4G LTE connection. This ensures minimal disruption to the user’s internet experience.

“We wanted to create a product that was responsive to the needs of our customers. We believe this will help elevate the internet standard in the country,” added Jeremiah de la Cruz, Senior Vice President and Head of Home Business Group at PLDT.

Additionally, the “Always On” modem is designed to streamline the customer experience. When a service interruption is detected, the device automatically files an instant service request ticket for priority repair, eliminating the need for manual reporting.
