OpenAI’s AI-powered ChatGPT Search is now accessible to all users for free. Previously limited to paid subscribers, the search engine is now available to anyone with a free account in regions where ChatGPT is accessible.
ChatGPT Search allows users to get answers to search queries by integrating web search directly into the chat interface. The search engine offers a traditional search experience, showing results with images, ratings, and even operating hours.
Users can ask questions in the form of a conversation, and ChatGPT will search the web based on the query or allow users to manually initiate a search by clicking the web search icon.
Additionally, the search feature includes partnerships with news outlets and data providers to add up-to-date information and new visual designs for categories like weather, stocks, sports, news, and maps.
OpenAI plans to continue improving the search experience, particularly in areas like shopping and travel, and leverage its smartest model, OpenAI o1, to conduct deeper research.
These updates follow other recent announcements from OpenAI, including the launch of its text-to-image model, Sora, and the introduction of a USD 200 per month ChatGPT Pro subscription.
ChatGPT Search is available at chatgpt.comā , as well as its desktop and mobile apps.
