HUAWEI and GCash introduce QR Code payment for wearables

HUAWEI Philippines and GCash have launched Watch Pay, a new feature that turns HUAWEI wearables into handy payment devices. With Watch Pay, you can pay securely using QR codes right from your wrist.

This is the first time QR code payments are available on wearable devices in the Philippines. The feature works with these HUAWEI models: WATCH Ultimate, WATCH GT 4, WATCH GT 5 Series, WATCH D2, WATCH Fit 3, and Band 10. More future models will also support this feature.

With the GCash app, you can pay bills, buy load, transfer money, and shop at over six million partner stores. This feature arrives after HUAWEI was named the top global brand for wrist-worn devices priced under USD 700 in 2024. According to IDC, HUAWEI’s shipments grew by 33.6% last year, even as global shipments of wearables dropped by 1.4%.

HUAWEI is also improving its devices with the TruSense System for better health tracking. The brand has expanded its presence to Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
