Maya launches digital first Maya Black credit card

Maya has launched the Maya Black Credit Card (Maya Black), setting a new standard for premium credit accessibility in the Philippines. Maya Black is aimed at modern, mobile-first Filipinos. It uses AI technology to broaden access to credit, breaking barriers faced by many who lack traditional credit histories.

The card’s application process is fully digital via the Maya app. Approvals are fast with virtual cards issued immediately and numberless physical cards delivered later.

Maya’s AI-driven credit scoring system evaluates users based on transactional data and alternative sources. This allows approval for individuals who are often excluded by conventional banks. For those with no prior credit history, a secured card option is seamlessly integrated into the app.

“Credit cards have long symbolized financial freedom and status, but for most Filipinos, they’ve remained out of reach. With Maya Black, we’re making the most desirable card in the market and democratizing access to it,” said Shailesh Baidwan, Maya Group President and Maya Bank Co-Founder.

Maya Black also offers cardholders premium benefits, including earning Maya Miles on every transaction. These can be redeemed as currency within Maya’s merchant network, converted to airline miles, or used for other travel rewards, all within the app. Additional perks include airport lounge access and compatibility with over 130 million Visa merchants worldwide.

With only 15% of Filipino adults holding credit cards, Maya Black aims to bridge the gap, targeting Millennials and Gen Z with a reimagined financial experience. The launch builds on the success of Maya’s Landers Cashback Everywhere Credit Card.
