Students from Adamson University and Notre Dame of Marbel University recently visited the PLDT and Smart Technolab in Makati to explore new technologies that could shape the future of connectivity.
The Technolab, managed by PLDT Group’s Network Strategy and Transformation Office, is where the company tests innovations before launching them to the public.
During the tour, students learned about Open Radio Access Network (ORAN), Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), transport network disaggregation, Non-Terrestrial Networks, extended reality, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
For many students, the experience sparked ideas for thesis and capstone projects. PLDT and Smart also gave students practical cybersecurity tips to help them stay safe online.

Both schools are part of Smart’s Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP), which connects universities with the tech industry.
By opening its doors to students, PLDT and Smart aim to spark curiosity, encourage innovation, and help them prepare for careers in technology.
