Shopee, Lazada to charge sellers with ₱5 fee per order starting September 3

E-commerce platforms charge ₱5 fee per order; sellers raise concerns.

Online sellers in the Philippines are reacting to a new ₱5 fee that Shopee and Lazada will start charging on every completed order. The fee will take effect on September 3, 2025, and applies regardless of how much an item costs.

This new Order Processing Fee is added on top of existing service fees, transaction fees, and VAT. Sellers say it’s an extra burden to them, especially for small businesses with tight margins.

Shopee posted the update on its Seller Education Hub, saying the fee will help improve its platform and seller tools. Lazada sent a similar notice via email, citing upgrades to traffic, conversion, and shopping experience.

Currently, both platforms charge sellers multiple fees per transaction. Buyers also pay separate shipping fees, which vary depending on the logistics provider. Meanwhile, TikTok Shop has yet to announce a similar fee.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology said it will look into the issue and coordinate with the DTI.
