Smart Communications has launched its 5G Standalone (SA) network in Iloilo City. This upgrade brings faster upload speeds and smoother mobile experiences to users in the area.
Unlike older 5G setups that rely on 4G, the SA network runs on its own. This means better performance, lower lag, and more reliable connections.
Smart says upload speeds in Iloilo will now be twice as fast. Users can expect smoother gaming, live selling, and video streaming.
The network also supports “network slicing,” which lets Smart give dedicated bandwidth to certain tasks. This helps apps run better for both regular users and businesses.
Smart COO Anastacio Martirez, who grew up in Western Visayas, said Iloilo was chosen as the first site for the rollout. He called the city a center of growth and innovation.
“This is not just a pilot, it’s a full-blown launch of the latest tech. And we’re glad we’re doing it in Iloilo,” said Martirez.
Smart is working with phone makers to make sure more devices can use the new network. It also encourages users to switch to 5G-ready phones to get the full benefit.
