A major data breach has exposed 183 million email addresses and passwords, including confirmed Gmail login details. The leaked information was added to the Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) database, a free tool that helps users check if their accounts have been compromised.
Security expert Troy Hunt, who runs HIBP, said the data came from “stealer logs” and credential stuffing lists, tools often used by hackers to collect login details. The breach includes website URLs, email addresses, and passwords.
While most of the data had appeared in earlier leaks, 16.4 million email addresses were new. At least one Gmail user confirmed that the leaked password matched their actual login, which showed the breach includes real, active credentials.
The data was collected over nearly a year by threat monitoring firm Synthient. Hunt reviewed the information and found that many reused passwords were still in circulation.

Users are advised to check their email addresses on HIBP and change any passwords that may have been exposed. If you reuse passwords across different accounts, update them everywhere. Stay tuned for updates.
