Apple’s iPhone 17 series is selling faster than last year’s iPhone 16 lineup. In the first 10 days, sales rose 14% in Apple’s two biggest markets, China and the United States, according to Counterpoint Research.

The base model iPhone 17 is leading the charge, especially in China. Sales there nearly doubled compared to the iPhone 16. Analysts say the strong demand comes from better features at the same price. The iPhone 17 offers a faster chip, an improved selfie camera, a brighter screen, and more storage. Discounts and coupons also helped boost sales.
In the US, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is the top seller. Carriers increased their subsidies by $100, making the premium model more affordable. This move supports longer financing plans, which help carriers earn more from monthly service fees.
The iPhone Air, which uses eSIM only, is doing slightly better than the iPhone 16 Plus. Pre-orders in China started on October 17. While it marks a step forward for eSIM, analysts expect slower adoption due to its higher price and shorter pre-order period.

Overall, the iPhone 17 series is off to a strong start, with buyers showing interest in both value upgrades and premium options.
