The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) will start rolling out biometric immigration e-gates in December 2025. These new gates scan passports and use facial recognition to speed up immigration checks.
The rollout begins at Terminals 1 and 3, NAIA’s main international hubs. Full deployment is expected early next year. The Bureau of Immigration will operate the system, while New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) is funding the project as part of ongoing airport upgrades.
Officials say the e-gates will help cut wait times and reduce congestion at immigration counters. More than 50 million passengers went through NAIA last year, way beyond its original design capacity. With travel numbers still rising, automation is seen as a practical way to keep passenger flow moving.

The e-gates will work alongside other biometric systems already being added to check-in, security, and boarding.
