ABS-CBN Entertainment YouTube channel shut down after hack

For now, you can watch your favorite shows on ABS-CBN's other channels and social media accounts.

ABS-CBN’s Entertainment YouTube channel, with more than 56 million subscribers, suddenly went offline on November 29 after an alleged hack. The takedown happened in the middle of It’s Showtime’s live broadcast.

Reports say the channel was compromised and briefly streamed unauthorized content before being shut down. Viewers saw a notice saying the channel was removed for violating community guidelines.

YouTube enforces strict Community Guidelines against hacked accounts, scams, spam, and other harmful content. Channels found in violation are often taken down immediately to protect viewers and the platform.

However, it’s worth noting that sometimes channels are taken down due to system errors (false positives). YouTube usually works to fix and reinstate them. Creators can also appeal a decision if they believe their channel was taken down unfairly.

ABS-CBN has not yet shared full details, but the network quickly moved to keep its shows available elsewhere.

In the meantime, you can watch your favorite shows on ABS-CBN’s other channels, including its Facebook page, the iWant app, and on GMA Network’s social media pages.

This isn’t the first time ABS-CBN has faced problems on YouTube. Back in November 2020, the ABS-CBN News and ANC channels were also hacked, causing hours of downtime.
