Apple is set to surpass Samsung in global smartphone shipments in 2025. This will be the first time in 14 years that the iPhone maker takes the lead, according to a forecast from Counterpoint Research.
Samsung has been the top smartphone brand since 2010, thanks to its wide range of devices across different price points. But Apple’s steady growth, driven by strong demand for premium iPhones, is changing the market.
Despite economic challenges, Apple continues to post solid numbers, showing the strength of its ecosystem and loyal customer base.
The report points out that Samsung is facing tough competition in the high-end segment, where Apple dominates. At the same time, Chinese brands (such as OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, and Transsion, among others) are putting pressure on Samsung in the mid-range market.
Apple’s focus on fewer models, combined with services and wearables, has helped it maintain momentum.
