Ayaneo is stepping into the smartphone space with the Pocket Play, a gaming-focused device built around a slide-out controller. The design reminds me of the Xperia Play from 2011, giving mobile gamers physical controls without relying on touch gestures.

Ayaneo has not shared hardware details or pricing. For now, the company is only showing the design.
The controller includes a D pad, ABXY buttons, and two touchpads that act as joysticks. It also has L1, L2, R1, and R2 shoulder buttons.
The phone features dual rear cameras, stereo speakers, and a USB-C port. It will come in black and white.

Ayaneo did not confirm the software, but the device is expected to run Android. The Pocket Play is listed on Kickstarter as “launching soon.”
At this point, Ayaneo has not yet set a launch date. However, if Pocket Play happens, it will stand out as one of the few modern attempts to bring physical gaming controls back to smartphones.
