Ayaneo just dropped new info about its first gaming smartphone, the Ayaneo Pocket Play, which is set to launch in 2026. The company, best known for its handheld gaming devices, is now entering the smartphone space with a design inspired by the old Sony Xperia Play.

The Pocket Play will come with a large 6.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400×1080. It also packs a 165Hz refresh rate, giving it visuals close to the ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE. The screen is also slightly bigger with the same resolution. For context, that refresh rate means faster screen updates, which is especially useful for gaming.
Photos show the phone with thin side bezels and thick top and bottom bezels. The front camera and speaker sit at the top, skipping the punch-hole design that most smartphones use today. It’s a more practical approach, even if it looks a bit old-school.
You can check the Ayaneo Pocket Play on its Kickstarter page, though the campaign isn’t live yet. Crowdfunding is nothing new for the brand, as it often uses this method to launch new devices.

With its high-refresh OLED screen and gaming-first design, the Ayaneo Pocket Play is shaping up to be an interesting option for mobile gamers. Like most gaming devices, its price will determine if it’s worth it.
