Ayaneo Pocket Micro 2 launched, sold out instantly

The Ayaneo Pocket Micro 2 launched during a livestream and sold out in minutes. Ayaneo confirmed only 100 units were released, making it one of the rarest retro handhelds in the market.

The Pocket Micro 2 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and Adreno 650 GPU, a big jump from the Helio G99 used in the first model. It offers 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage, with microSD expansion.

The handheld keeps its 3.5-inch 960×640 LCD, capable of running GBA, NES, SNES, GameCube, PS2, and even some Switch titles.

Ayaneo said the limited run was due to the high costs of RAM and flash storage. Instead of raising prices, they capped production at 100 units. The Pocket Micro 2 boasts smoother gameplay, faster launch speeds, and better compatibility as the main improvements.

Fans were quick to voice frustration over the scarcity. Some questioned the official numbers, with claims that more than 1,000 units may have been produced and sold in the domestic market. Ayaneo responded on Discord, saying they might explore shipping more units if costs allow, but nothing is confirmed.
