OpenAI has rolled out new personalization options for ChatGPT, giving users more control over how the chatbot responds. The update lets you adjust warmth, enthusiasm, and emoji use, with settings available in the Personalization menu.
OpenAI shared the update on social media, showing choices that include More, Less, or Default, depending on how expressive you want the replies to be.

This comes after months of feedback about ChatGPT’s tone. Some users felt earlier versions were too flattering, while others said the chatbot sounded cold.
OpenAI previously pulled back one update described as “too sycophant-y” and later tuned GPT‑5 to sound friendlier. The new controls aim to put that decision in the hands of users.
Aside from tone, personalization also covers formatting. You can now set preferences for headers and lists, making ChatGPT more adaptable for different contexts, whether for work or casual use.
