Apple taps Google’s Gemini to power Siri

Apple has tapped Google’s Gemini to power the next version of Siri. The multi‑year deal puts Gemini at the center of Apple’s ecosystem, while OpenAI’s ChatGPT will stay on board only for advanced, opt‑in queries.

With this move, Gemini will reach Apple’s more than 2 billion active devices. It follows Google’s earlier partnership with Samsung for Galaxy AI, giving Alphabet a stronger foothold in consumer AI.

Apple has struggled to roll out its own generative AI tools. By adopting Gemini, the company hopes to speed up development and make Siri more useful. Apple says privacy remains a priority, with Apple Intelligence running on‑device or through its Private Cloud Compute system.

For Google, the deal is both strategic and financial. Alphabet’s market value recently passed $4 trillion, boosted by strong investor confidence in AI. The partnership with Apple further cements Gemini’s role as a leading AI platform.
