Apple has launched the iPhone Duo for $1,999 (₱159,990 in the Philippines), but the device is reportedly beefier than other foldables on the market today. It measures 11.3mm thick when folded and weighing 254 grams. This makes Apple’s first foldable phone noticeably extra bulky compared to its Android rivals.
The iPhone Duo is 15 grams heavier than Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold. It is also 30 grams heavier than the HONOR Magic V6, which folds down to just 9.0mm.
Samsung leads the design race even further, with its Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra weighing 39 grams less than Apple’s device. While the Galaxy Z Fold8 holds its own with 201g and 9.7mm thickness.
Compared to the older Galaxy Z Fold 6 from 2024, which measured 12.1mm closed, the iPhone Duo is slightly thinner, but still heavier.
When unfolded, the thicknes of each device is much closer to each other. However, the iPhone Duo is still the thickest at 5.2mm.

Despite the added weight, Apple packed several premium features into the frame. The phone includes Apple Pencil stylus support, an under-display camera, and smooth screen transitions.

Dedicated iOS users waiting for an Apple foldable likely will not care about the extra weight. Android fans, however, already have lighter options available today.
When the iPhone Duo becomes available sometime next month, buyers will finally be able to test its heavier design in hand.
