Global tablet shipments grew nearly 10 percent in 2025, reaching 162 million units, according to data from Omdia. Apple and Samsung continue to lead the tablet market, with Apple taking the top spot and Samsung holding second place despite mixed results.
Apple shipped 19.6 million iPads in the fourth quarter, up 16.5 percent from last year. The iPad 11th Gen and M5 iPad Pro were the main drivers of growth. Samsung shipped 6.4 million tablets, but its numbers dropped 9.2 percent compared to 2024.

Lenovo, Huawei, and Xiaomi rounded out the top five. Lenovo grew shipments by 36 percent, Huawei by 14.8 percent, and Xiaomi posted double-digit growth in both quarterly and annually.
The market saw strong demand in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Asia Pacific. North America was the only region to decline, though holiday discounts helped ease the drop.
Analysts say 2026 will be tougher. Rising memory prices and supply issues could slow growth. Still, vendors are likely to focuse on premium upgrades, education demand, and ecosystem-driven features.
