CreaZion Studios brings A24’s sci-fi horror ‘Backrooms’ to Philippine cinemas

CreaZion Studios has announced that A24’s highly anticipated sci-fi horror film Backrooms will arrive in Philippine cinemas on June 3, 2026.

Backrooms is the directorial debut of Kane Parsons, a 20-year-old YouTuber who first gained attention for his viral web series about eerie, endless rooms. The series has amassed nearly 100 million views and inspired several video game adaptations on platforms like Steam and Roblox.

Produced by A24 with Chernin Entertainment, Atomic Monster, and 21 Laps, the film stars Academy Award nominees Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value, The Worst Person In The World) star in the movie, alongside Mark Duplass (The Morning Show), Finn Bennett (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), Lukita Maxwell (Shrinking), Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap), Chelah Horsdal (Hell on Wheels), and Toby Hargrave (Superman & Lois).

CreaZion Studios is releasing Backrooms as part of its #KwentoMoTo initiative, which focuses on bringing “Human Stories and Human Experiences” to Filipino and Southeast Asian audiences.

The company has previously distributed acclaimed titles such as Park Chan Wook’s No Other Choice and A24’s The Legend of Ochi.

RJ San Agustin, President and CEO of CreaZion Studios, emphasized the importance of experiencing films like Backrooms on the big screen, noting that the release marks the start of their slate of international titles for 2026.
