MMDA expands Electric Love Bus with new Metro Manila route

Metro Manila commuters will soon get free rides on electric buses as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) expands its Electric Love Bus program. The new route will connect Robinsons Galleria and Eastwood City, with operations expected to start by late April or early May 2026.

The project is a partnership between MMDA and Global Electric Transport (GET) Philippines, with corporate sponsors helping cover costs to make the service free. MMDA Chair Don Artes said the program aims to ease commuting challenges while promoting cleaner and quieter public transport.

Under the agreement, MMDA will manage routes and enforcement, while GET Philippines will operate and maintain the fleet. Ten electric buses will be deployed at launch.

Each bus can carry up to 30 passengers and will run five to six trips daily from morning until late evening. Operating hours are set from 6AM to 9PM, with possible extensions until 10PM depending on demand.

The eastbound route will start at Robinsons Galleria and pass Estancia Mall, the MMDA headquarters on Doña Julia Vargas Avenue, Arcovia Opus Mall, and Arcovia Mall before ending at Eastwood City.

The westbound route will begin at Eastwood City and include stops at C5–Eastwood Footbridge, C5–Greenmeadows Footbridge, C5–Greenmeadows Gate, Tiendesitas, C5–Doña Julia Vargas Avenue, MMDA headquarters, Estancia Mall, and finally Robinsons Galleria.

Pilot runs of the Love Bus program were also held in Cebu and Davao. In Metro Manila, the first revived route in 2025 connected the Valenzuela Gateway Complex to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange. This latest rollout marks the first time the program will operate within a central business district.

What do you think of the Electric Love Bus? Will it push more commuters to try this in Metro Manila? Stay tuned.
