Love Bus offers free rides in Cebu and Davao to ease daily commutes

The Love Bus helps thousands of commuters save on daily transport costs.

The Love Bus is now operational and running in Cebu and Davao. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) launched the free ride program on Friday to help commuters save money and support public transport workers.

In Davao City, eight Love Buses now operate during peak hours along the UM Matina–Mintal route. Around 3,360 passengers are expected to benefit daily, while 32 drivers and operators receive support through the government’s Service Contracting Program. According to Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, the initiative could help 6,000 commuters save up to ₱350 per day.

Cebu’s rollout includes 11 Love Buses serving the Talisay City–Cebu City route. An estimated 2,462 commuters and 44 drivers, and operators benefit daily. The program builds on an earlier launch in July, which covered the Urgello–Parkmall route and has already served nearly 650,000 passengers.

Free trips run from 6:00 to 9:00 AM and 5:00 to 8:00 PM daily. Originally launched in the 1970s, the Love Bus now returns with free rides and expanded coverage.
