DICT warns possible Roblox ban in the Philippines

Roblox could soon face restrictions in the Philippines as government agencies raise concerns about child safety. The DICT and the CICC are in talks with Roblox’s operators to improve safeguards for young players. Officials warned that if changes are not made, the game may be banned in the country.

Concerns grew after reports that minors were allegedly groomed through an online game, believed to be Roblox, to commit violent acts. This incident pushed regulators to take a closer look at how the platform protects its users.

Roblox is a popular sandbox platform where users can create and play games made by other players. It is very popular among kids and teens.

The game has faced similar issues abroad. In the United States, lawsuits have been filed in several states over child safety failures, with critics calling it a “playground for predators.” In Europe, Dutch regulators are investigating whether Roblox follows EU online safety rules, citing risks of violent or explicit content.
