Discord has promised deeper ties with the Philippine government to strengthen online safety and protect young users. The move comes after recent talks between the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and Discord officials.
The virtual meeting was led by DICT officials. The discussion focused on tracking malicious actors on the platform and tackling Nihilistic Violent Extremists (NVEs).
Discord agreed to create a “green lane” for government requests, making it easier for authorities to respond to threats. The company also committed to designating local points of contact and presenting its Global Teen Experience program, which includes age-assurance measures for young users.
The meeting was arranged by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C., with participation from DICT-CICC, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Philippine National Police–Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG).
