Discord and Reddit have formally agreed to comply with Philippine government mandates, which led to both platforms being restored nationwide. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) confirmed the move after the two signed off on new safety measures.
The agreement requires Discord and Reddit to remove illegal content and stop grooming networks that target minors. DICT also set up a “green-lane” system so harmful posts can be taken down faster. Both platforms promised stronger age checks and default safety settings for young Filipino users.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said child safety online is non-negotiable. He explained that strict action was needed to make sure platforms are accountable and follow national cyber rules. The agreement came after weeks of talks between DICT, the National Privacy Commission, and other agencies.
With the new rules in place, DICT ordered internet service providers and the National Telecommunications Commission to restore access nationwide. This means users can log back in to Discord and Reddit without any restrictions.
