Discord messages may soon appear on Google Search as the platform opens parts of its public communities to the wider web. The change only affects eligible public servers, and users can choose to opt out.
Discord is rolling out a feature that lets content from Discoverable Servers appear on web pages and search results. These are public communities that meet the platform’s requirements for discoverability.

The rollout will happen in phases. First, eligible servers will get their own Server Web Pages. These pages can include AI-generated summaries of discussions happening in public channels.
Later, Discord will start showing messages from selected public channels on those web pages and in search results. According to Discord, usernames and profile photos will not be displayed alongside searchable messages.
The update does not affect private servers, direct messages, group DMs, or private channels. Those conversations will remain hidden from search engines.

If you run a community, Discord gives you control over what gets shared. Server admins can choose which channels are searchable, turn off message indexing, or exclude channels from AI-generated summaries through the platform’s Web Presence settings.
Users also have their own privacy controls. You can go to Discord’s Data and Privacy settings and disable the option that allows your future messages to appear on public Server Web Pages. This means you do not need to delete your message history just to avoid future indexing.

For most users, the biggest impact is that public Discord discussions could become easier to find through Google Search. If you’re active in public communities, now might be a good time to check your privacy settings and make sure they match your preferences.
