Google Maps brings trip planning and battery predictions to 350+ Android Auto EVs

Google Maps is expanding support for electric vehicles, bringing AI‑powered trip planning to more than 350 Android Auto‑compatible EV models across 15 brands, starting in the United States.

Drivers can set up a vehicle profile in Maps by adding details such as model, battery size, and current charge. With this information, Maps predicts battery usage for trips and suggests charging stops along the route.

The system uses artificial intelligence with energy models that account for traffic, road elevation, and weather. This allows Maps to estimate arrival battery levels and include charging time in the expected travel duration.

This should reduce range anxiety and simplify trip planning. Instead of switching between multiple tools, EV owners can just use Maps for both directions and charging planning.
