Netflix’s live-action Gundam movie stars Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo

Netflix has started production on a live-action Gundam movie. The Gundam franchise is known for giant robot combat and human drama, and this adaptation aims to bring that mix to live-action.

The film will feature an original story set during a long war between Earth and its former space colonies. At its core are rival mech pilots whose shifting loyalties and escalating battles drive the plot. The project is directed by Jim Mickle, known for Sweet Tooth and Cold in July.

Leading the cast are Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, The Housemaid) and Noah Centineo (Street Fighter, Warfare). They are joined by Jackson White, Shioli Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Michael Mando, Javon Walton, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Ida Brooke, Gemma Chua-Tran, and Jason Isaacs.

The movie is backed by Legendary Pictures and Bandai Namco Filmworks. Producers include Mickle, Linda Moran, Cale Boyter, Ali Mendes, Sweeney, Centineo, and Enzo Marc, with Matthew Jenkins, Makoto Asanuma, and Naohiro Ogata serving as executive producers.

The live-action Gundam film will stream exclusively on Netflix. For fans, this marks a major step in bringing one of Japan’s most iconic mecha franchises to global audiences.
