Qualcomm announced two new chipsets for mid‑range and entry‑level phones — the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. Both are built to deliver smoother UI, better gaming, and improved efficiency, with the first devices expected in the second half of 2026.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 uses Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 and FPS 3.0 for stable gaming. It runs a quad‑core CPU up to 2.6GHz with a 21% GPU boost and 8% better efficiency. Qualcomm’s Smooth Motion UI cuts stutter by 18% and speeds up app launches by 20%.
Camera support goes up to 200MP with AI features like night vision and 100x zoom. Connectivity includes 5G up to 2.8Gbps, Wi‑Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0, though USB drops to 2.0.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 focuses on entry‑level devices with a 77% GPU improvement and support for 90fps gaming. It improves app launches by 43% and reduces stutter by 25%. The CPU clocks at 2.4GHz with 10% power savings, but memory is limited to LPDDR4X.
It supports dual SIM dual active 5G, peak speeds up to 2.8Gbps, and now adds 4K video recording. Displays up to 1080p+ at 144Hz are supported, an upgrade from 120Hz.

Devices from HONOR, OPPO, realme, and Redmi will be the first to use the new chips. It will bring smoother performance and efficiency to more affordable phones.
