Qualcomm is preparing to launch the next Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The processor is expected to be announced in late September. Xiaomi will be one of the first brands to use it in an upcoming smartphone.
Reports suggest it could be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, an upgraded version of last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite. It may feature faster CPU and GPU speeds, with early reports pointing to a 4.6GHz CPU and a 12GHz GPU. These could lead to better performance and power efficiency.
Qualcomm shared the news during its Q3 2025 earnings call, where it reported $10.4 billion in revenue. Most of that came from chip sales. The company also said it’s focusing more on AI and edge computing, which could play a role in future mobile devices.
Xiaomi’s early access to the chip continues its trend of being first with Qualcomm’s latest hardware. Last year, it also launched the first phone with the original Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Early adopters of the new chipset are expected to include Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, and vivo.
More details about the chip and upcoming devices are expected at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit later this year.
