Qualcomm has confirmed it will raise prices on Snapdragon chips starting September 1, 2026. The company said costs for fabrication, assembly, packaging, memory, and other materials have gone up across the industry.
Bloomberg earlier reported that Qualcomm told phone makers it could no longer absorb higher supplier costs. The increase could reach double digits. Even a small price hike would hit Android brands already working with tight budgets.
The AI boom is probably the big reason behind the strain. Data centers and infrastructure projects are eating up parts at a fast pace, leaving supply chains stretched. Qualcomm said it tried to source components elsewhere, but rising costs are unavoidable.
Snapdragon chips have already seen price jumps in recent years. The Snapdragon 8 Elite was said to cost 30 percent more than its predecessor.

For the rest of us, this means Android phones will become more expensive once the new chip prices take effect. Brands that rely on Snapdragon processors are expected to pass the added costs on to buyers.
