iPhone 18 Pro could have variable aperture camera

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro could ship with a variable aperture main camera. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, “the biggest leap in camera hardware” is coming. The upgrade is expected to improve photo quality across different lighting conditions, giving users more flexibility when shooting.

Reports suggest the main camera will use a larger module to support the new feature, making the phone about 2mm thicker. The telephoto lens is also rumored to get a larger aperture, which should help capture clearer shots in low light.

The iPhone 18 Pro is also expected to debut with the A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process, designed to handle iOS 27’s Apple Intelligence features more efficiently.

Alongside this, Apple’s in-house C2 modem could replace Qualcomm, with possible support for 5G satellite connectivity.
