iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 bring massive performance boost

Apple’s iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 are going to come with big performance upgrades, making everyday tasks faster across iPhones and iPads. Announced at WWDC 2026, the updates focus on speed and smoother use, even for older devices.

Apps now open up to 30 percent quicker, whether they’re from Apple or third-party developers. Uploading content to libraries has been streamlined. AirDrop transfers are 80 percent faster, making photo and file sharing less of a wait.

On iPads, external drive transfers are up to five times faster, bringing speeds closer to what users get on Macs.

Connectivity also gets smarter. Devices will switch more smoothly between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, cutting down the need to manually toggle in Control Center.

Apple confirmed that these improvements aren’t just for new hardware; older models like the iPhone 11 will also benefit once updated to iOS 27.

These changes come alongside Apple’s broader OS refresh, which includes design tweaks and new AI features. But for most users, the speed boost will be the most noticeable upgrade.
