Apple’s iOS 27 developer beta hints that a foldable iPhone is in the works. Developers found code references like “foldState” and “angleDegrees”, plus mentions of multiple displays. These weren’t in iOS 26, which suggests Apple is preparing iOS for a new type of device.
The findings was confirmed by 9to5Mac. Apple also talked about resizing support for iPhone apps on macOS mirroring and iPad at WWDC26. This lines up with the idea of flexible layouts for foldable screens.
Apple hasn’t made anything official yet, but many expect the rumored iPhone Fold to launch this year with iOS 27. Foldables are already common from Samsung and Huawei, so it’s harder for Apple to hide software changes that point in the same direction.
For most users, the main concern will be price and availability. In the Philippines, for instance, Apple products usually come from resellers like Beyond the Box and Power Mac Center, often with higher SRPs than in the US. If Apple does release a foldable iPhone, expect it to cost a lot more than the current Pro models.
