Apple launches AirPods 5 with improved ANC and upgraded audio

Apple launched the new AirPods 5 with improved ANC, delivering a quieter listening experience. The updated audio gear brings active noise cancellation to Apple’s lineup at an accessible price point.

The new earbuds block up to 50% more outside noise than the previous AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation. Apple tweaked the internal design using a new multiport acoustic layout. This works with updated Adaptive EQ to give you clearer music and better calls.

You get a refined Transparency mode that makes nearby voices sound more natural. Adaptive Audio automatically balances noise cancellation with your surroundings. When you start talking to someone nearby, Conversation Awareness turns down your media volume. You can also respond to Siri by nodding or shaking your head.

Apple created two versions of the earbuds. The standard model gives you better sweat, water, and dust protection. The higher version adds a Wireless Charging Case. This upgraded option lets you adjust volume by swiping the stem directly.

Battery life gives you up to 5 hours of listening time on a single charge with active noise cancellation on. The wireless charging case extends total time up to 22 hours. You can top up the case using USB-C, Qi chargers, or Apple Watch chargers.

Apple used 40% recycled materials to build the new gear. The battery features 100% recycled cobalt, while the case uses 70% recycled plastic. The retail packaging uses fiber materials that you can recycle easily at home.
