Apple has announced iOS 27 at WWDC 2026, and the update will roll out to all iPhones currently running iOS 26. That includes the iPhone 11 series and the 2nd‑gen iPhone SE, which many thought would be dropped from the list.
The update brings noticeable speed improvements. Apps open 30% faster, AirDrop transfers are 80% quicker, and a new CPU scheduler makes older devices feel more responsive.
Apple also added sharper icons with layered refraction, a Liquid Glass transparency slider, and a rebuilt Spotlight search. Mail now ranks messages smarter, making inbox management easier.

The rollout starts in September 2026 alongside new iPhone models. All supported devices get the performance and usability upgrades, but Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI are limited to iPhone 15 Pro and newer.
Siri AI won’t launch in the EU initially for iOS and iPadOS, and it’s excluded from China due to regulatory requirements.
