Apple is preparing to launch Apple Upgrade, a new device leasing program for the US market. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the program, set to start on July 28, 2026, is designed to make Apple devices more accessible with lower monthly payments while replacing the company’s existing iPhone payment plans.
The program is backed by Klarna Group, and it will cover most iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch models. Lease terms will vary: iPhones and Apple Watches are set at 24 months, while Macs and iPads run for 36 months. Customers are required to undergo a soft credit check to qualify.
Apple Upgrade offers flexibility. Users can pay off early, upgrade early, keep the device, or return it at the end of the lease, though extra fees may apply. However, AppleCare is not included, and some entry-level models such as the Apple Watch SE, iPhone 16, iPad, and MacBook Neo are excluded. Business and education purchases are also not eligible.
The rollout comes shortly after Apple raised prices across Macs, iPads, and other devices due to a memory shortage, with iPhone price increases expected in September.

Apple Upgrade will be available in Apple retail stores and online in the US starting July 28. The program is expected to help Apple drive sales amid rising hardware costs and give customers more flexible ownership options.
