Viber eSIM now available in PH, lets you buy roaming data abroad

Viber has launched its eSIM service in the Philippines, giving users a way to buy roaming data directly inside the app when traveling abroad. This makes it easier for Filipino users to stay connected without buying and registering a local SIM card overseas.

The eSIM service works only on carrier-unlocked phones that support eSIM. Once activated, users can browse roaming plans covering hundreds of destinations. Data costs depend on the country where the plan is used.

Payment is simple. You can pay with Google Pay, Apple Pay, or a credit or debit card. The installation process is step-by-step inside the app, so travelers can set it up before or during their trip.

Viber sees the eSIM as part of its push to become a superapp, adding more services beyond messaging. The company also expects the service to create new revenue streams for carriers as adoption grows.
